Features to know about

Smooth and Balanced Ride: 7-3/4" Equalizers Spread Out the Bumps

Uneven roads can make a trailer bounce and sway, throwing off balance and comfort. The curved 7-3/4" long equalizers in this tandem-axle hanger kit keep that in check by distributing the impact of bumps evenly between both axles. That means smoother motion and steadier handling when towing. The equalizers let the springs move together instead of fighting each other, helping the suspension absorb the rough stuff instead of transferring it to the frame.

Solid Suspension Mounts: 3-1/4" Tall Weld-On Hangers Hold Firm

Weak or worn hangers can make the suspension feel loose or uneven. The 3-1/4" tall front, center, and rear hangers in this kit restore a strong connection point for your double-eye leaf springs. Each hanger welds securely to the frame for a permanent installation that won’t shift under load. They give you the right geometry for even spring travel and consistent clearance between the trailer frame and the axles—about 4-1/2" to 5" depending on axle size.

Reliable Hardware Throughout: Matching Shackles and Bolts Keep Things Tight

Suspension parts take a beating mile after mile, so every piece in this kit is built to match and last. Eight 2-5/8" long shackle straps connect the springs to the equalizers so they can pivot freely. Fourteen 3" x 9/16" bolts with matching locknuts lock it all together without binding, keeping your suspension aligned over time. It’s a complete hardware set for installing four double-eye leaf springs (sold separately) on a tandem setup.

Right Setup for Heavy Loads: Designed for 2,000-lb to 7,000-lb Tandem Axles

Whether you’re restoring a work trailer or building one from scratch, this kit is ready for common tandem axle setups rated from 2,000 lbs up to 7,000 lbs per axle. With correctly spaced hangers—typically around 29-1/2" between front and center and between center and rear—it sets you up for proper axle placement and dependable suspension geometry once welded in place.

Heavy duty parts. Still going strong! Well made suspension parts. Shipped quickly. Perfect fit.

I had a trailer with a suspension that needed new bushing and rocker arm. I looked on line and decided on the parts I needed. I called my order in on Sunday evening and explained I needed the parts ASAP.
The parts were sent to UPS Sunday evening. I received the parts about 2:00 Wednesday. I have already installed the parts. The suspension is back like new now.

My flatbed trailer is a 1998 and the suspension and wheels were suffering from Pa's use of salt brine on the roads. The wheels had holes rusted through them! Decided it was time to repair the trailer. Got new wheels and suspension parts from E-trailer. Got my parts fast at a good price and well on my way to having a reliable trailer again. Great service and will do business again!

Product was exactly as described. Used the info on website for location of mounts. Couldnt be happier.
Awesome customer service as well.

by:

It was easy to install, and had all the parts I needed.
The trailer rolls down the road nice.
This helped me get a barn find trailer back on the road.

I'm building a trailer for a gutter machine from scratch. And the parts that I got from e-trailer are exactly what I needed, and on top of that they got to my house 3 days earlier than they were suppose to. I know where to order again if I need some more parts in near future ;) thank you guys

by:

I received my order very fast. The quality is excellent and everything that I expected. What is also impressive is that if you have questions about setting up your axle kit, etrailer has printable instructions right on their website that will make installation simple.
I have built several trailers over the years and appreciate the quality and service provided by etrailer. I highly recommend this company and their products.

by:

Product and service are excellent. You should consider using better shipping containers or using a different shipper. My box showed up with a hole in the bottom and the tape ripped almost gave way. By reading other comments this is not the first time.

I think these Trailer spring hangers are working out very well. Can’t wait to test it out on the road. I’m building a 7000 lbs GVWR trailer to mount a generator on.

by:

I bought the spring kit to put on my home built trailer that I put my old heavy slide-in camper on. It more than met my expectations. There was no sway at 75mph or on the 5 mile trail back to camp.

by:

Nicole was extremely helpful! Thank you Nicole! The parts all arrived quickly, everything fit as it should, good quality. Easy Peasy!

by:

Good product and good price.

We summer at a remote cabin in the Gila Nat'l Forest above Silver City NM. The last 5 miles to the cabin is extremely rough and puts a lot of wear and tear on both my truck and my trailer that we use to transport water, food, building materials and supplies to the cabin on a twice a month schedule. I have had suspension springs break, blown tires and damaged coupler. I ordered this kit to replace the entire hanger assembly because of wear and tear, cracks and loose fittings. I had to re-enforce the frame and weld up some cracks and wear points. The kit was great and worked perfect. The trailer is now like new and will serve me for years to come.

by:

Worked perfect. Old ones were worn out, these were the perfect replacement.

by:

Damaged packaging with a result of missing 6 hex nuts to install this kit. Now I’ll have to go to hardware store and get new ones. Irritating

by:

I ordered a tandom axle trailer suspension kit. I also ordered the bolt kit to go with it. I specifically asked the salesman if everything thing I needed to mount the axles was included, and he assured me that it was all there
When I opened the box and got ready to install the kit I found I only got one set of U bolts. It's like you don't have a clue about what you are selling! Very disappointed!

by:

Good quality parts, new hanger bracket was 1/4” steel. Just had to get shackle straps separate, as this trailer had an odd length on it.

  • Troubleshooting Slanted Equalizer on Unloaded 7K Cargo Trailer
Thank you for providing all of that information! From the photos and dimensions it looks like you have the suspension kit that's equivalent to the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT5. For your axle and hanger spacing you need lead springs that are more in the 25-1/8" to 25-1/8" range. Leaf springs will elongate over time and if you took the center eye measurements with the weight of the trailer down then both of those will contribute towards the longer spring measurement, but from my...

  • Choosing Bigger Tires to Increase Trailer Ground Clearance
It depends on how much clearance you currently have around your wheels. Ideally, you should have 3 inches minimum clearance between your fender and your wheels and an inch minimum between your sidewall and trailer frame/wall. As your wheel size increases, your clearance decreases so please measure with that in mind. You current tires are 225/75/R15 similar to # AM32680. As you can see, this tire has an outside diameter of 28.4". Going up two inches would bring you to a wheel and tire like...

Hey Dennis, thanks for reaching out! The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # DX23CR has a 3" drop from center eye to middle of the leaf spring (see attached photo). For a single axle setup I recommend the Hanger Kit # APS4, and for a tandem axle setup I recommend the Hanger Kit # APT5. Since the U-Bolt kit sits on either side of the leaf spring, the space between them will be 1-3/4" - the same as your leaf spring width. It might straddle your trailer frame, but you really want more clearance...

  • How to Determine Hanger Spacing for Tandem Axle Trailer Suspension with 26 Inch Springs
Thank you for providing the specs for the suspension components that you already have. Correct hanger spacing really depends on the components being used such as springs, hangers and equalizers. Most of the hanger spacing dimensions that we have are based on our preassembled kits, so we will use that as a foundation for your setup. First, I would either replace all of the front and rear hangers with 2-1/2 inch tall hangers like part # 115918 or replace just the center hangers with 2-1/2...

To determine the location for the front and rear hangers on your tandem axle trailer you will first need to make sure that you have the correct center point for your equalizer hanger. The center point of your equalizer hanger needs to be located where you will have 60 percent of the frame of the trailer in front of the center of the equalizer hanger and 40 percent behind the center of the equalizer hanger. It's not setup for brakes so in order to equip them you'd need to have a brake mounting flange welded on, the Brake Mounting Flange for 1-3/4" Round Trailer Axles part # 4-34. This is assuming that your axle tube is 3 inches diameter. If your axle tube is smaller the height will be sightly less. The curve of the springs you select will have some affect also. • What Hanger Kit To Use For Tandem Axle Trailer With 2,000 lb Axles
Hello Torrey, thanks for reaching out. Generally with a 2,000 lb axle setup you would want each hanger to be the same height. Using a taller hanger will increase the deck height, and shorter hangers will bring it lower. So if you want a lower ride, you could use a kit like the # APT9 kit which comes with 2-1/2" tall hangers. Or to bring it higher use # APT5 which is 3-1/4" tall hangers. This could also help get you more clearance between the tires and fenders if needed. I have linked...
